Yamoransa Home Ec Project Draws Closer to Completion

The Yamoransa Model Home Economics Project progresses and draws near to its successful end. The project team had their third stakeholder update meeting on the Home Economics project execution on Thursday July 30, 2020 at Yamoransa.

The IMPLEMENTERS team, led by Kafui Prebbie and Laurin Assiamah-Yeboah, met with members of the local community as well as the home economics teachers to discuss updates on the project execution.

Here are some highlights from the meeting: 

  1. Works currently completed as at July 30 include the following:
  2. Phase I of the construction components (tiling works, burglar proofing, carpentry works, plumbing works, ramps and concreting)
  3. Gas components (LPG and Biogas connections)
  4. Fire auditing and assessment
  5. Phase I of purchases (Extra Furniture, Kitchen Equipment and Electric Sewing Machines)  
  6. Works to be completed in the coming weeks include the following:
  7. Phase II of purchases (Purchases of extra kitchen & sewing accessories)
  8. Phase II of construction works (Painting, electrical works, fixing of washroom accessories)
  9. Glass wall covering
  10. Upcoming project activities which include training of Home Economics teachers and planning of the center’s dedication were briefly discussed and scheduled in September. 
  11. The team discussed the possible appointment of a General Manager(GM) to manage the community center. The GM will exercise overall responsibility for supervising the daily operations of the YM Community Center (YMCC) which includes daily classes and all events. The YM Community Board was assigned to oversee all applications for the role and undertake interviews for qualified persons. Updates from this process will be shared when it commences.
