Train the Trainer Workshop: Yamoransa Model Lab 8 Empowers Educators in AI
In today’s fast-evolving technological world, where digital tools are shaping how we live, work, and learn, education is also undergoing a powerful transformation. The Yamoransa Model (YM) Lab 8 is proving this by showing how technology, particularly STEAM-based learning, can drive inclusive and practical education.
Established in 2020, YM Lab 8 has been a hub for nurturing students in ICT skills. But this time, the Lab is going a step further to empower not only students but also educators. Recognizing that teachers are at the heart of education, the Lab is now equipping them with essential digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills to enhance teaching and learning.
On 23rd September 2025, YM Lab 8 held a Professional Development Workshop for Heads of Basic Schools and IT teachers in Bogoso, Western Region, under the theme “Unlocking AI in the Classroom.” The workshop brought together over 160 educators, all eager to understand how AI can transform the way they teach. Participants discovered that AI is not a magic solution but a powerful enabler that helps teachers personalize learning, boost creativity, save time, and better prepare students for a digital future.
The event featured a mix of hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions, where participants learned practical strategies to:
- Use AI tools for lesson planning and assessments
- Enhance student engagement through interactive, technology-driven learning
- Foster critical thinking and responsible AI use among young learners
- se the ASANKA device to improve teaching outcomes in schools without internet access
Facilitators included Edward Kwarteng Owusu (YM Lab 8), Adriana Oppong, and Mr. Ghapson Buabeng (YM Lab 4), who pooled their expertise, resources, and experience to deliver an engaging, high-impact session. Together, they guided teachers step-by-step on integrating AI applications into their classrooms, helping educators motivate students and nurture the next generation of creative problem-solvers.
For YM Lab 8, the mission is clear: prepare both teachers and students for the future of education, where AI and digital tools play a central role in learning.
The Yamoransa Model Lab Programme celebrates the remarkable work of YM Lab 8 in reaching more communities and showcasing how the lab’s resources and programs are transforming digital education in communities.
